Shui Mu Nian Hua – Old Bush Shui Xian (76-Year-Old Tree)

In the misty valley deep within the core rock tea area of Wuyi Mountain, each tree has witnessed more than seven decades of seasonal cycles. This is named "Water and Wood".

Tasting Notes: The flavor is remarkably sweet and mellow, with zero astringency or bitterness. A cooling, lingering sweetness rises from the throat after each sip. The finish is extraordinarily long, leaving a subtle woody sweetness that persists.

The early infusions are bold and mineral-driven, with the middle steeps blooming with honeyed sweetness and mossy depth. The later steeps unveil delicate floral whispers and a gentle, lasting woodiness.

Texture: On the palate, this tea is exceptionally thick, smooth, and oily, coating the mouth with a velvety richness.

Endurance: True to its origins, this Old Bush Shui Xian displays remarkable stamina. With this method, the tea can easily deliver 15 to 20 rich infusions, each revealing a new layer of its character.

How to Brew:

Using Gongfu brewing: Use 8.3 grams of tea with 100°C boiling water in a porcelain gaiwan or purple-clay Yixing pot. Do a quick rinse first, then steep for 5–8 seconds initially. Gradually increase to 10–15 seconds, then 20–30 seconds as the leaves begin to unfurl.

Boiling: After the traditional steeping method has exhausted its infusion potential, the spent leaves still hold deep reserves of sweetness and mineral complexity that require higher heat to release. Transfer the used tea leaves from your gaiwan or pot into a heat-resistant glass or ceramic boiling vessel. Add fresh water, then boil.
