Deep in the southern reaches of the Wuyi Mountain core zone lies Hu Xiao Yan: a massive cave on the rock wall where winds blowing sound like the roar of a tiger. This is the birthplace of one of Wuyi's most majestic teas.

Grown on rocky cliffs and sunlit slopes rather than shady valleys, Hu Xiao Yan is renowned for its bold and imposing image.

Aroma: A complex bouquet composed of wild orchids, stone fruits, and subtle baked cocoa, complemented by the unique mineral essence that defines genuine Wuyi rock tea.

Tasting notes: The first sip delivers a sharp, warm, cinnamon-like spicy flavor with a subtle pepper note, before being replaced by a quick and lasting sweetness. Around the fourth or fifth steep, the rich cinnamon aroma becomes softer, showcasing subtle floral and honey peach notes. The tea remains bold, but its delicate sweetness gradually becomes the focal point.

Texture: This wine is rich, full-bodied, and robust. There is a clear sense of coolness on the tongue and throat.

Endurance: Hu Xiao Yan is both delicate and durable. Using boiling water with a brewing time of 5 to 10 seconds, it can easily provide 10 to 15 steeps.

How to brew: Use 8.3 grams per 120 milliliters in 100°C boiling water. Steep for 5-10 seconds, then gradually increase by 5 seconds per round.
