High in the Wuyi Mountains, at elevations that kiss the clouds, our Da Hong Pao grows not in flat fields, but on steep rocky slopes of the Ban Yan (Half-Rock) terroir.
How to steep and tasting notes:
1st steep (15s): A burst of wild osmanthus and roasted chestnut, with a whisper of stonefruit.
2nd steep (20s): The yan yun awakens. A cool, mineral backbone rises beneath layers of dark cocoa, caramelized brown sugar, and a floral elegance that lingers like mountain fog.
3rd to 5th steep (25–30s): The sweetness deepens. Hints of dried longan, toasted barley, and a subtle spice that warms from within. The texture turns velvety and almost creamy, coating the mouth with each sip.
6th to 10th steep (35–45s): The fruit gives way to a gentle woodiness, like cedar after rain. The minerality remains steadfast, clear, and refreshing.
Endurance: This tea offers 10+ infusions with grace. Not because we force it, but because the mountain gave it depth.
No bitterness. No astringency.
Just layer after layer of rock, fire, and patience.
Brew slowly. Listen closely.
The cliff has stories to tell.
